Footbridge

As I stood there looking,
Fragrance and sadness filled the air,
Another life had gone,
The footbridge held memories,
People had used it over the years,
To take their own lives,
Why would they do such a thing?
Was it broken hearts! Depression!
Bullying! Or even drugs,
Young lives were cut short,
Whatever the case,
How could we stop?
Terrible deaths happening again,
Why were people drawn to this spot?
What brought them to total despair?
Hearts crying out in sadness,
Their loneliness and desperation,
Will last forever,
Captured within that bridge,
Flowers were laid from family,
What hope is there?
Is the answer? Love!
Were they lost without love?
I wish I could hand out love,
My heart stands at that footbridge.

Wendy, a wonderful list of questions "WHY" to be that heart broken to take one's life. Good luck in the contest. Hugs Eve
