Flight To Winter

Winter flies long after
the skies drain; of blooms that still
carry her wings, memory though

the white sail bloom of her eyes; but
knowing browns inevitable; vines take turns tripping
the pale staircase outside, neither really going upward

moving within, clinging boughs; perched on my new lichen
flesh, fasts a sparrow with still winter-full stomach;

Solemn imagery ends with a whisper, enchants throughout.

Unlike many, I feel you enjoy winter. We don't have a marked winter season here in the state where I live. Beautifully written dear Paige.

Your use of metaphor and imagery works in tandem to generate a striking picture, Paige.

Strong imagery in this one. I enjoyed: “ knowing browns inevitable; vines take turns twisting”. It’s fascinating your ability to flip things as displayed here re: swallow with still winter full stomach. I feel reading your work will help other poets to turn life around in their minds & help with shattering normal societal perspectives. From a human evolutionary process, this helps a poetic collective to take minds across 3D limitations. ThkU for playing your role in this “project”, Paige. I recognise your divine role here.

Very interesting. That last image. Almost as if you are asking for winter itself to stay! I really loved first stanza imagery.
