Flickering Through the Mind
What flickers through the mind,
so quickly as to be lost before
found, like a flash of lightning?
A half-thought, never completed?
A line of poetry never written?
A dream swiftly fading into mist?
A memory of a love long lost?
All the brain's sparkling confetti,
falling into myriad streams,
merging into a relentless river,
emptying into that black ocean--
... the unconscious....
