Flapping Away

Flapping Away Ron said he needed a new place to stay. From his apartment, he’d be cast away. I offered my couch, thought he’d stay a week, not settle down like a well-worn antique. It wasn’t long before complaints ensued; my cooking, my clothing – what’s with this dude? His cigar smell filtered throughout the house; when drunk each night, he became quite a louse. Worse yet, Ron spoke of joining in marriage! Perhaps he sought more cause to disparage. One morning he woke; all my things were gone. My support he could no longer count on. My note on the fridge made my feelings clear; it was my time to leave, my time to jeer. I’d have paid money just to see Ron’s face when he learned his habits I’d not embrace! “I put YOUR name on the lease. Rent’s due NOW. To your inane whims, I will not kowtow. “I gave all I could – feathers in my cap. This jig’s up; I’ll spread my feathers and flap.” *Written April 26, 2015 for Tammy’s contest.

Carolyn, your words were both funny and in places intense, The words "like a well worn antique" had me laughing, well done 7, and thanks for visiting my poem, nearly the same and leaving that very nice comment
