Premiere Contest WinnerFlaming June POTD

may her flames never burn out
whilst I can rekindle active embers
 all that lies beneath
              fullness of beauty
      this form, this aura
          smoulders
                    though she lies sleeping
                she lights the room
every aspect of her shining
I gaze upon fabric that drapes -
in awe that nothing that touches her skin
can fail to become beautiful also
    she falls artfully into slumber
the very representation of a dream
shimmering as if a thousand sunsets
          shroud and surround her
comfort she finds in her own frame
equilibrium, stillness -
breath may or may not disrupt
    so I dare not breathe
for I do not wish to disturb this beauty
      may she exist forevermore
   resplendent as evening sun
for she transcends
what it is to be mortal

' comfort she finds in her own frame. ' Now that's true beauty. The way your thoughts caress the page is perfect in every way, it's so elegant and poetic. Congratulations Laurentine on the trophy win, and receiving Poem of the Day. My best to you. : ) Hugs, Brandy

Glad you enjoyed this one Jan - I just loved the idea of being so taken with someone that the painting that is done contains the depth of just how absorbed they were. Oh to be painted Jan! I'm going to put it on my list!

Hello Laurentine, congrats on POTD, I kept coming back to the idea that her beauty is an active force and not just something she possesses, but something that colonizes the fabric and the air around her until everything she touches is "resplendent." I think it makes me a temporary, almost intrusive witness to a scene that has no business being mortal. Well Done, Blessings, Daniel

I really like this poem, Laurentine! I love the hushed awe in the way you wrote this; I searched up the painting and you described the surreal quality of it perfectly. Congrats on the win!

Thank you Hiba for seeking out the painting, it's always interesting to find out if the picture in the readers minds eye matches the art work or I suppose the feeling of gazing at the artwork from my words - thanks so much :)
