Losing hurts! But, Cona, 2nd place means that she is way up there, standing next to the winner. They thought she was the next best! Maybe next time she will be first and someone else will be 2nd! Isn't 2nd better than 3rd or 4th place? My wish for this person is to learn to accept defeat graciously, swallow those hurt & sappy feelings, slap a smile on and congratulate the winner. That's what makes whoever comes in 2nd. a true champion and not a spoil sport and a poor loser.

I'm new here, so still stumbling around! So happy you did win some poetry contests. I will have to look and see if I can find them. I entered one last month, but must have messed up with the entry because didn't hear a thing from anyone. I just clicked on a contest. Chose the poem from my list of poems and entered it. It was a contest about poets. the entry I submitted was "The Florist and the Poet". Maybe it wasn't that good and didn't even get a mention! What you said about your beauty being laughable, I bet that isn't true. As for me, I never was, I'm 77 now, but God knows the beauty that really matters is internal. And He sees that.

Yes, it is fiction, and also humor. The idea of myself competing in a beauty contest is entirely laughable. I do sometimes win with poetry, however. A first place win is entirely satisfying, especially if a small check is attached to the certificate. Grin. Who knew this would happen!

So sorry, Cona! Just found out this was humor. Good job! I fell for it. Gullible me.. But I sure told that imaginary, poor loser of yours off, didn't I! That'll teach her! The other poem I read of yours (the spiritual one) I really liked. Darlene
