First Nights

I tried my luck at the track, And bet a thoroughbred like her might show. And so I trotted her back To my apartment for an easy go. That filly shot from the gate. We galloped hard, fast and straight, To cross the finish line beneath red lights, But once I’ve gone ‘round the course, I saddle up a new horse, ‘cause baby, all I can do are first nights. Yeah, darlin’, all I can do are first nights. Whenever the passion ignites, I play a pretty loose game. My lover’s never the same, ‘cause honey, all I can do are first nights. I see a lot of old flames When I go smokin’ at the caberet. I don’t remember their names. I strike ‘em once and toss the match away. One dame is much like the rest; There isn’t even a best, But I remember to respect their rights. Yeah, I allow them to pout While gently turning them out, ‘cause baby, all I can do are first nights. Yeah, darlin’, all I can do are first nights, Addicted to untried delights. I’m only looking to score With chicks I haven’t before, ‘cause honey, all I can do are first nights.
