First Cat Love

She was an itsy-bitsy girl and had a teeny kitten. One night Daddy came in, knowing his daughter was smitten. He was most angry with the kitten! The father screamed, "He is suffocating her!" Dragged kitten outside, in the snow she was hurled. It's all such a blur. To this day, this little girl's heart cries. For the kitten who froze to death, Years ago, under unloving, Chicago winter skies. Panagiota Romios 2/21/2019

So sad. I wouldn't want to have this memory on my mind for the rest of my life! I agree with Andrea, the say adults treat animals is often the way they treat people. Many thanks for reading my poem on how bees make honey. Best to you. / M

Yes, I loved your bee poem. That kitty memory comes to me off and on. That's why I have had so many cats since 1968. Treating animals as nothings does translate into relationships. So glad I found your poetry. Thank you for visiting.,Panagiota

I have read this twice, and I have no words. So sad, I can barely think of it.

Hi Caren, It's even hard for me to think on it. I still see that teeny, red ball of hair, squeeling . And me? Screaming in fear clutching the big wooden railing. Hot tears falling on my hands Panagiota

Wow! There is no such thing as a coincidence, I firmly believe. A similar incident happened to me when I was a little boy in Chicago. It's making my hair stand on end, kind of like a cat's! One more thing: I'm still in Chicago. How about you? You can soupmail me if you like on that one. Best wishes, Gershon

Miss that, too Will write you at Soupmail. Not a speed typist, be patient, lol. Panagiota

what a very sad story!! The girl had to be treated almost equally bad by her father since the way we treat animals is a reflection of how we treat each other.

Andrea! Thank you for commenting. You are spot on in your analysis. Animals are left alone too long, fed cheap food and many abused. Panagiota
