Fifty-Something Happy and Free
They say that fifty
Is over the hill
I don't sway that way
So take a chill pill
Let me show you
Just how real
It all makes me feel
What turning fifty can be
According to me
Everything is nifty and free
Couldn't wait to see
What it had in store for me
I think we can all agree
Gravity takes its place
We are no longer pretty as lace
The miles on our face
Take us back to a special place
Only time can trace
Never erase
With a smile on my face
It all went by so fast
It's hard to unmask
And stay on task
I won't fret
Cause you can bet
I have no regrets
So I won't let it get to me
I'm fifty-something happy and free
To just be me
At least I can see
How it turned out for thee
That turning fifty
Is ok by me
When I get up each day
I play my way
No matter what they say
It's ok
To be on my way
To a new kind of day
It brings so many familiar rings
We all think we can sing
Happy and free to just be me
Most of us enjoy a good fling
We no longer leave loose strings
We have all felt loves sting
Gotten over the bling bling
Happy to just swing
Being fifty-something happy and free
Just being me
I won't fret cause
You can bet
I have no regrets
So I won't let it get to me
Let me say that fiftysomething
Has made it possible to see
How much you all mean to me
As I expect we will all be
fifty something happy and free
Just hoping to still see
The person we choose to be
Make the most of every day
Be sure to love the most
Always be a good host
And learn to boast
See this world from coast to coast
Except that fiftysomething
Makes you happy
To just be free
As you can be
