Fifty Pills

My personal physician
says I’m the picture of perfect health
Then he hands me the pharmaceutic scripts
Dr. Miyagi
makes me wonder sometimes,
if he’s a paid health insurance company shill
Seeing how there’s fifty bottles of medicine
on my monthly HMO bill
Metformin
Deseryl
Glyburide
Lisinopril
Every day the bottles say,
I gotta take fifty pills
But the side effects will give you deadly cold chills
Nausea,
diarrhea
Constipation,
insomnia
Me keeping well
is profitable to somebody I can tell
Just pop open the caps,
and watch your thoughts congeal
Bactrim
Gabapentin
Amneal
Indomethacin
Taking fifty pills is waking zombie time
My staying well feels like being sentenced
to a life imprisonment crime
Always feeling sick just to stay healthy,
going to sleep is the only time I feel good
So, I bequeath this advice in my will:
if you wanna die painfully slow, then take fifty pills

I love it. A modern poetic write. Something so hard for me to do. I can truly understand about the 50 pills. I must take 55. This is well written. Fave for me too.

Freddie, people are being sentenced by the Pharmaceutical companies, especially the elderly, the doctor is just the middleman.....

My dear Freddie, if you had the time to analyse those tablets you might be surprised. I am absolutely certain that the Big Pharma wants to keep people sick. Bactrim i know is a sulfur antibiotic. I am highly allergic to it. An honest poem spoken from the heart like always dear friend...Maria

My great aunt died while taking about 80 pills a day. They always seem to cause more agony and disease than they cure. One has to wonder if big, "pharma", is trying to find cures or being paid to trip down the populace. An excellent and honest poem.

Hi Freddie, I'm with you on this one. It cracks me up when the doctor prescribes you something for an ailment,(or to keep you well) the possible side effects are scary. Great job my friend:-) Alexis

Know the feeling, trust me I'm at 30. Thank God they're all generic or I'd be pilless. Well done Freddie.

Good point Freddie. I don't know those medications, but I do know about side effects. AND the money made by companies. Take care my friend :)
