Paul, I actually have several pear trees that are that old and I hope the blossoms will make it to fruit. We have some trees that have been planted in the last 2 to 5 years as well. We were trying to prepare for the time when we would have to remove the old trees for one reason or another. Thanks for the visit to my page and taking time to read and comment. Eve, The pear trees are like a picture now but we will know in a few days if there will be any pears. The rain and winds and up and down of the thermometer has done my spring blooms in on much of my plants. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

My decorative pear will bud in April. We had SUCH a snow this morning. Cars sliding on the freeway. Ugggg

Andrea, The pears that I have are the kind that bear edible fruit. It is going to be close to freezing tonight and maybe two more days which could lead to loosing another crop of pears but if the wind blows or if they are wrong maybe we will have some to enjoy this fall and if I am able to make some pear preserves. Sara
