Umbrellas are not only associated with rain. In the fierce heat of the African sun, it is customary for people to carry umbrellas to ward off the sunlight—it can be traced to other cultures as well.

It was not my intention to emulate haiku, Seeker; rather a minimalistic tanka, ie Sanford-style tanka. Thanks for reading and your comment which gave me pause for thought. :)
