- Fibromyalgia -

Pain is my everyday life, but no one can see it.
      Perpetual muscle and joint pain,
      that fluctuates in intensity.
Never stopping, not even for a second.
Lack of sleep and rest, causes extreme tiredness.

      Painkillers ... nothing works.
Fibromyalgia: one must learn to manage the pain
      rather than fight it.
An overwhelming sentiment for the one affected,
      - when the pain controls the whole life.

It is a very difficult chronic condition. Insomnia makes it all the more worse. Nothing much can be done than live with it and take some pills to temporarily ease the pain. We all live with many such ailments. Poetry makes us forget our pain for sometime. Take care. Hugs!

So sorry to hear that you have to deal with this! I am blessed that my lupus has calmed down but I recall joint pain and bone pain and the misery. Perhaps in the future medically they will find suitable treatment or a cure. Keep pressing on and persevering with your poetry dear! Best wishes for the contest!

Oh, sweetie, if this is true then like me, you probably hesitated to write about your sad body part/ailment, thinking sympathy vs poem comments. I didn't really want to discuss my brain! This is a terrible thing to live with it and you told about it quite well without just saying, 'it's hell.' One of my cousins has it and ... cussing words, that's what. How to manage if nothing works?

Now I realize what fibromyalgia is. Your verse is very informative. Good luck with the contest. I hope the pain leaves.

I go thru this everyday with my back and legs. Medications don't work, light exercises helpstrengthen the joints. Nice poem.

- Pain is more complicated than we have thought... some people unfortunately have to live with severe, chronic pain... which makes everyday life a little difficult, Jay :) - I have had fibromyalgia for many years, and it doesn't get better with age or exercise - hugs

Hello Anne-Lise, it’s so sad but beautifully said. I can identify somewhat to pain being non- stop. I have RA and OA , no pain killers work, Stay positive, my poet friend.
