Fearing the Worse
escorted thru the fog
to a secluded room
down a long hall
off away from other rooms
every sign
foreboding
holding our breath
for a verdict bad or worse
hearts beating fearfully
trying to calm our minds
pretending for each other’s sake
we’re not concerned
we’re not alarmed
we try to find comfort
take a deep breath
life goes on
until it doesn’t
