Father’s Day

I remember as I child
eyeing the Christmas
tree, all lit and broadcasting.
Early-on I realized that Father
was Santa. Mother sensed it
when they married. Father, let go of his
well defined ego, embraced the principal
to secure the family, protect and
serve selflessly onto death.

Hi Anne; he was a good man. Humble, quiet for the most part -- a son like me could bring out the rage in any father:)) Here on earth and above I am certain.

From a father, what the children expect to get are protection and love. Glad to know your father liberally gave this to his children until death. We are lucky to have such responsible and caring parents.

Most men and women are, but the bad get the press. The men and women I know are dedicated to family.

When father lets go of ego. That would be a wonderful thing for so many families if more fathers did that thing. By the way, if you rearranged your lines to make 7 lines , this would be perfect for the Soups challenge of the week 😊

Hi Andrea; to totally love and treasure one's family above self is the best. Thank you -- have a great week!

Joe, your great poem has a heartfelt and touching message about the sacrifices a father makes. It's a lovely tribute to the selfless love and protection a father provides. The imagery of the Christmas tree effectively sets a warm, nostalgic scene.

Thank you, Soto; this would also make a fine Memorial Day poem I think. Anyway, so pleased you enjoyed reading the work. Have a great day!
