Fate
Morning routine still the same
Word play is my morning game
Waiting on the train to pull up
Sipping out my hot cocoa cup
Train was full front to back
Morning rush was just that
The ride was smooth, causing me to doze off
Awakened to someone's hard hacking cough
My bag was unzipped and rifled through
Startled and confused on what to do
Guy sitting across with bulging pockets
He was no help; skipped the topic
He yawn and mumbled; smelling sickly
I chose not to assume too quickly
Frequent rider; never happen before
Startled and shocked to my core
Confused, wondering what was next
Morning haven't even got started yet
I will not allow this to ruin my day
"I forgive you" is what I felt to say
My phone, charger, and four dollars were missing
Walking away with my life that was wonderfully giving
I was advised to contacted the company and filed a report
The representative was kind and the call was short
Trust me when I say, "lesson learned"
I won't allow this incident keep me concerned
Future rides, I will hold onto my bag or place it on my thighs
Knowing it can be rifled through, if I happen to close my eyes
I feel good, my day is still going great
I decided to share this experience and determine it was fate.
