Fall Behind

We changed the clocks, which threw me off So I was up at 5; Too dark to walk, I had to wait For sunrise to arrive. I read my book and checked my mail Until the sky was light. Two days before, that hour Would have been as black as night. We spring ahead and fall behind; I never get that straight. My mind can’t wrap itself around This need to fluctuate. But soon the mornings will be bright Enough to hit the park, Though way before it’s dinner time Outside it will be dark. Our brains and bodies will adjust As time goes forth and back. Tonight, however, I am sure By 8 I’ll hit the sack.

One of the nice things about Hawai'i is we don't have that because we are in the middle of the ocean and no one cares! But I do miss those extra hours of sunshine! Aloha! Rico

I know you (through your poems), and you don’t know me, yet I look forward daily to your ‘treat’. Thanks!

Well put Ilene. I'm still not right! Apparently we are giving it up next year. It's the poor midwives on night duty I pity.

This was perfect Ilene and something I should have expected from you because the rhymes are spot on, the meter is wonderfully smooth and the theme is so right now. Wonderful my friend.

we changed our clocks at the end of October - it always throws my body clock out of kilter. we say 'spring forward then fall back' as an easy way of remembering what to do with the clocks. I do enjoy the brighter lighter mornings and cosying up when it gets dark, Have a super week Ilene, I'm off to bed now to try and sleep am exhausted and its only 9.45, very early for me to go to bed!:-) hugs Jan xx
