Fading Memories

The candle burns,
wax nostalgic,
flickering moments past,
illuminating traces
of a once beaten path.

Memories, light now fading
receding shades of black,
grasping for the straws,
raking feelings back.

Drifting winds of change
shaping thoughts perceived,
searching in the dullness
of how it used to be.

What a lovely poem Mark. So well written. Great poetic lines, ‘ flickering moments past’ ‘ Drifting winds of change’. Love the image of the candle burning with the reminiscence of lost, past days, memories. The last line is very poignant. Great write of which I so enjoyed. Thank you for sharing. :)

Some great lines Mark, I particularly like a wax nostalgic because candles are a bit old days and so lend themselves to the sentiments you suggest here.
