Fading Light

As we get older, the years begin to fly by like the blink of an eye. Our beings withered and torn, but our love was never meant to be scorned. Holding tightly with both hands to the little love that's left, praying it will be enough to make it to the end. As the flame in our eyes slowly fades, we run out of words to say and start to feel alone at the end of the day. Desperately knowing in my heart that I want you to stay until the bones in our bodies turn to clay, we pretend in hopes we'll mend before the end whilst our paths stray from the stress and hate. As the light flickers to dimly to see you clearly now, my hand reaches out blindly, waiting for yours to grab hold and never let go again.
