Faced with Monsters

It happened one night:
roving shadows
with impish intent

stabbing breath
under barren moon
& stars they'd pick-pocketed
from somnolent skies

faces of black aloes
engulfing two needles of light,
piercing whites, these grim eyes
& drowning me

between a musty tenant-mattress,
chest of bricks sagging
mind travailing
unfamiliar ground
in an unlit back room

yet a word
JESUS
spilled over jotty prayers
formed by the heart
melted vespertine crawlers

The word 'Jesus' often acts as a talisman that saves us from all dangers hidden and open. It will drive away all monsters and evil spirits. Beautiful entry for the contest. All the best dear Trina.

Appreciated Valsa. That is true. I'll never forget that night. It was an incredible experience. Jesus' name is so powerful. We must employ it in faith.
