Facade

His life is an act, put on in an attempt to feel normal. ?But I don’t think he understood that the lies made her feel horrible. ?He pulled her in with stories of surviving the monsters until it was clear, it was he she would fear. ?With each day came a new struggle “they hit me, they hate me, why don’t you understand?”?She couldn’t relate to these horrible encounters, but she tried to help without being a downer. It was hard not to be sad when everything seemed to make him mad. She just wanted him to know that he was not to blame for the hatred forced upon him. ?“You are mine,” he declared one day. “That’s nice,” she replied, “but don’t I get a say?” The day she caught on to the lies is one she will never forget. “The monsters aren’t real,” he confessed “I’m sorry I made you upset.” When the truth came out everything became worse. “You’re right, they hate you,” he said, his voice terse. She became numb to the insults, her skin grew thicker with time. ?He held her captive with no intent in letting her escape. She tried to leave, but her mind was in bad shape. One day he broke a promise and this was the last straw she walked out the door leaving him in awe. He assumed she would come back to him because she always did. But it was over and done with heaven forbid. ?She thought “this is great I’m finally free,” but it wasn’t that easy you see. The monster she now faced was the reflection in the mirror. She didn’t want anyone near her. Faking a smile in front of her friends kept their questions at bay. She constantly told them she was okay. A forever of regret is ahead, and some days she won’t get out of bed. This isn’t how life should be she cries “God I wish he would die.” It’s a long time before her smile stops being fake, but she soon understands he was a mistake.

Eh Muh, , Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@EMO
