Eying the Babe

Ah, my brother is finally sleeping
Through my head mischievous thoughts are creeping
It’s my time to shine now
     To him I won’t kowtow
All of the attention I’ll be keeping

I’ll make the best use of this special time
Beg for more after each nursery rhyme
I’ll play with his best toys
Till he makes the first noise
Because then I’ll just be admired part time

Nicely captured sibbling rivalry. It is tough when the only child becomes a sibbling - at any age. Yes, they do crave the attention that once was just paid to them. Great write Carolyn. Joe

Many congrats on your win, Carolyn. Yes, it is nice to have something to look forward to - and afterwards, you'll have nice memories : ) I'm sure all that sea air will do you good, my friend. Perhaps you'll catch a goliath grouper - you'll need plenty of chips (fries) to go with that LOL Would you have it in batter or breadcrumbs?

Crafty and sweet angle on the left out brother- You brought back some memories of how I felt growing up with a sister with spina bifida-she was super sick as a child and I sat on the stairs to the upper level often each night watching my mom's dedication to her, missing a little for myself. Great one-2 thumbs up! Gwendolen

I enjoyed this unique take on brotherly love through the eyes of a child, Carolyn...and in Limerick form no less. Haven't been keeping up with the contests but it's sure to be a winner. It certainly is to me.

So cute, Carolyn! Surely the way of youngsters when a new baby shows up.:) A very creative and imaginative write...makes me smile! Oh, and I hope I wasn't the one who'd encouraged you to get that bunny! I've been having bouts of remorse all day!! The power of persuasion...did he think he was houdini, or what? Good luck with your sweet write! Mikki
