Notes About The Poem

Eyes of a Stranger

Tranquil was my life until the day
he glanced at me and we both stood still
Eyes locked senses stirred
as if they were pebbles being thrown
sending ripples across the surface of my soul.

Since that intimate gaze,
I've not been able to forget the moment
a stranger's nod had caressed me.
His smile held me a willing captive
as firmly as if he'd cupped my face
with the alluring warmth of his hands.

In a fleeting moment, we touched.
Not physically, but an emotional wave.
The kind that comes crashing from the sea
and takes your feet from under you,
leaving you lying on the sand,
          drenched, out of breath...
laughing, and not giving a damn.

The intensity of his look
left me hoping such a wave
would wash over me once again
This time I wouldn't turn and walk away.

I’m not even sure I should be commenting on this one, yes he’s a handsome dude setting the scene, but not my type, I prefer the female of the species, but I gotta admit the poetry is extremely sensual, and beautifully crafted, I’ll just imagine it’s Helen of Troy launching 1000 ships, and be on my way, but not before I fave this one! Cheers David

Thank goodness he’s not your type! Nice to know you have no issue with calling another guy handsome.’ Merci for finding it sensually alluring and for the fave. Yeah, I could see you with Helen.

Ha John. You shouldn’t give a damn. My thoughts were meant to lead a reader to yearn with desire and you were there. Merci.

Gosh my heart linnersz, romance never sounded as poetic before this! Eyes of a stranger! That!!!! Should be a prompt! Its perfect! Is it ok if i set that as a prompt on one of my communities? Also i must say the aching longing flowing throughout this poem is just palpable! I cant even! I love especially the lines “ In a fleeting moment, we touched. Not physically, but an emotional wave.” whoa! That hits so deep! I wish i had written that! Your romantic poems always make my heart quiver! This is a new fave for me! Pleasure reading. Feel free to spread your finely feathered wings and use anything you wish from my poetry as contest prompts. I see it as a compliment of our kindred spirits. Thank you for finding my lines romantically sensual. Those eyes are mesmerizing and turning away would be nigh on to impossible.
