Excuses
Now that Christmas is all over and the new year has begun,
We look back upon the old one, wondering what we could have done
To have made it better and to have brought a lasting peace.
If we had truly loved each other we might have found the way to cease
All the wars and all the mayhem that have plagued our weary world.
We long to walk this Earth in safety with our flag of peace unfurled.
Two thousand years ago You answered with your gift from up above.
In our willful disobedience, we destroyed our “Perfect Love”.
Excuses? Lord, we have none, for it is a dreadful fact
We destroyed Perfect Solution with rebellious, hideous act.
