Thanks, Linda. This was genuinely written with innocent intent, but I instantly saw the potential for misinterpretation… which only made it seem funnier. Glad you enjoyed. Terry

Your flow logic is actually perfect Terry. Other sites define limericks as lines 1, 2, and 5 having 7-10 syllables and 3 and 4 having 5-7. So flow is clearly what is most important where the syllable count is concerned.

Brilliant Terry lolol! Reading through Limericks today. Trying to learn a bit, if possible. Mine do not seem to come out quite right.

Limericks are very difficult, Terry, and I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. I get so frustrated when I need to change the syllable count and it affects the rhythm. Edward Lear had it down pat...me, not so much!

Thanks, FJ. I claim to be no authority, but sometimes limericks suffer from their own rules. I’ve written a ton of limericks where lines 1 and 2 were, say, 10 syllables, but where line 5 only reads and flows right with 9 syllables. If I’m writing for a contest I try to get that extra syllable in. If not, I go with what flows best. Thanks again. Terry

Thanks, Gershon. Of course as a Brit, I should have said ‘super glue’ but I thought I’d pander to the majority. Terry

This is hilarious, Terry. I like it a lot. (still chuckling) And, I'm a big fan of crazy glue, too.

I had cataract surgery on my left eye. Everything went swimmingly. Thanks.

Thank you, Susan. I called it ‘Excalibur’ because I knew beyond doubt that some readers would find naughty connotations in it. Fortunately, clean or rude, it gives me a giggle either way. Terry
