Evolution In Reverse

Here marks the age
Of evolution in reverse
Though finally escaping
The clutches of the church

The craze of social media
Has us on our knees
With the touch of a thumb
We’ve acquired all our needs

We need not for hunting
Exploring or chasing
We swipe and we like
For instant gratification

Needles mask our wrinkles
Pills hide our pain
Botox and fillers
Soon we’ll all look the same

Human connection
Replaced with technology
Materialistically rich
Spiritually in poverty

Hazel, sadly it is true, but grandmas and grandpas make a difference in grandkids lives and as long as they are interested in learning, we can teach. Parents just need to not let technology take over their children's sense of adventure which can be accomplished by putting away the tablet for the day. Tablets have become the new babysitters that television used to perform. Nothing beats interaction! I enjoyed your scary poem which has become a reality for so many! Congratulations on your win!

Brilliant! Especially the last stanza. We have switched to the church of technology. What will become of us? Best Wishes~ Warren
