Eve's Rib

The rib of Eve is fashion's price A sadistic trap of six-inch heels Some masochist's torture device Or for added bust appeal To wrap the torso so austere And lift upon bands of steel The French grandly name the brassiere Paris, an exacting Madame Wielding her whip of sharp cashmere No slouching, suck in that diaphragm! A lady glides on blistered feet Starved to belong, sweet tooth be damned No sweat allowed in any heat Only single digit sizes impress Shunning all those more than petite Sisters, what happened to progress? Our feminist freedoms manifold We deserve to be a mess! Gray is lovelier than gold... 4/12/19 For Quirky Tercets contest Sponsor: Nina Parmenter

oh so witty Michelle, I rarely wear heels these days so hubby was delighted when I took some on a recently holiday and shock horror I wore 3 dresses too which is a rarity and I'm back to jeans again lol:-) I'm lucky I've never had weight issues but admit to hitting the bottle - hair dye that is lol:-) hugs Jan xx

True, my husband likes it when I dress up a bit, but high heels - never!

Time someone wrote a poem like this Michelle - awesome poem - one's size of dress, bra, or choice of shoes should have no effect on, or affect any girl/woman - but sadly the media has influenced a vast majority of our fashions! Each and every one of us girls are unique - we should enjoy our uniqueness! Thoroughly enjoyed Michelle - great write. Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

This is the first of this type of poetry I've read (clear through) and I think you have a winner here. It may be partly because I like thinking about bras, but I can't seem to help it!! Anyway well done my friend!!!................pat

Slavery takes many forms. Such women are slaves to the priests of high fashion. If we ignore them, they won't go away, but at least they won't bother us... Nicely done, Michelle! :) gw

Now this is better than quirky. This is gold and Nina should love it!! There is a quite the movement now to accept all sizes. have you seen Project Runway lately? They are showing models of plus sizes!

You deal with an important topic. My wife runs an eating disorder program for the Mental Health Centre. Women’s expectations are near impossible to achieve. I have yet to meet a woman who is full satisfied with the way she looks. Interestingly the women men are attracted to rarely look the way women think they should.

One thing I love about Reservation women is the lack of bras and other feminine accoutrements and cosmetics. But I shall always remember mother's anguish over her "Crow feet" (eye wrinkles) which I found beautiful because they advertised how easily she laughed. Good Luck, Michelle! Aloha! Rico
