Everything Has Retreated

Death of oneself flowers from remaining
un-attentive to your needs and continually
abandoning yourself. I have been this.

I can’t rely on any other person or promise
of materialism. Everything I used to like has
retreated from me because the spirit infused
into them was mine, and it’s lost.

I have to find my way far from here and
not lean on anything to keep me afloat.
I only feel growth of fear and second guessing
the longer I stay here.

I’ve said yes to so many deprecating things
And have let people use me just like the past
But I guess it makes sense that I did
because I’m still here in this town
With these people, with these memories.

Intriguing...and something that many people experience sometime during their lives. Only this very day I have spoken to someone who is suffering with the very same feelings. "Look to the far horizon" I said. "Keep your eyes on that almost out of sight spot...and keep marching, one step at a time, onwards towards it". "Never become dissuaded; never become despondent; refuse to countenance failure; never listen to naysayers and decriers". "March inextricably forwards...and you will be rewarded." j
