Every Seventeen Minutes

In New York it is reported people were dying every 17 minutes
5 hospitals at that time were overwhelmed
How do we deal with such tragic, horrific events?
Here we sit in isolation, feeling powerless
Relying on prayer and writing or creating what we can
Contacting senators and governors with good ideas too
The skies were bright earlier today, the sun was free to shine
Now it is overcast, as if the news made it blind
We are all faced with this together, the same ugly illness
That creeps everywhere and haunts us all
We can only do our best with care and create so we don't fall

It's going to get worse unfortunately before it gets better. Like you say, patience is the key to observe the guidance from experts.

Yes, these are really rough times. Our deaths doubled in the last couple days. I am sorry to hear people are not abiding by things there. They are not here either. We have stay at home orders. We are a vacation area, still getting mobbed with people and not social distancing. I wrote to Governor. He is now asking visitors to be quarantined. Thank you for your comment. Stay safe! :)

Hi Heidi, I knew their were many cases of corona virus in New York but I had know clue that it was a bad this bad. People dying every 17 minutes? That is horrible and sad news. I just got the news about a forced quarantine order. It sounds horrific but its needed because too many people are dying. This virus isn’t no joke and I hope they get vaccine soon. Stay safe my friend- Alexis

Yes, this is unbearable to hear. We do need quarantine. I just explained why to Tom , in my reply to him below. We need to take this seriously and work together. Thank you for your comment. Stay safe and well. Take care :)

That's horrific Heidi, we're on lockdown over here but we can go to the shops etc, don't know how they could strictly enforce it. Our government had nine weeks to prepare for what was coming and did nothing, had to keep the economy going, didn't want to become unpopular next time there's an election. They'll pay dearly now a lot of firms shut. They say there's a tsunami coming and we haven't seen anything yet, God help us. 900 died yesterday in Italy and they thought they were over the worst. Stay safe. Tom

Tom, this truly is horrific. We had 2 months to prepare also , but it was minimized. We are lacking medical supplies and hospitals are overflowing. Now, Scientists found this original virus now has 18 strains, likely due to mutation, but in quarantine, some strains died off. Please take this seriously and stay safe! Thank you :)
