Every Niche of My Heart

Every Niche of My Heart The sun sinks behind. And lingers for a moment Colorizing skies. Western Mountain Range Made majestic by the light Minimizes night. Where, beyond the plains, The bleak dark mountain peaks watch Oh, friendless life. And a fallen limb Lies upon the solid ground Lonely, filled with fright. Resting on the rim Not another soul around Coldness brings its blight. Then, the thought of you Fills every niche of my heart. And my soul takes flight. © Dane Ann Smith-Johnsen March, 2008
