Every Inch of You

Turning to face reality
a mirror tells no lie,
with no way to hide it
how can one even try

The image of myself
not one of perfection,
and still I can see you
in that gray reflection

Every inch of yourself
was not meant to be seen,
the wise woman knows
what is hidden in between

Every inch it overlaps
what matters most to me,
holds more importance
than what a mirror can see

Inner beauty and passion
the heart and the brain,
never facing rejection
though feeling the pain

The blind leave the scars
though cuts cannot deflate,
nor jokes that may crush
will not hold any weight

So if when alone one day
you still find yourself blue,
promise you'll remember
I love every inch of you.

Kelly, this is a good as anything I've read on the contemplation of inner beauty. At least with poetry we have a chance to show the world what dwells inside us, and your inner beauty is on display in this write. Well done, poet friend ~ John

Loved this one Kelly, each word, each thought, every inch of this poem I will remember. So well said, the mirror does not reflect who we really are, pity. Your heart shines in this write!

It really is a shame that who we are on the inside is not visible on the outside. I think this world would be a much better place if that were possible...Thank you so much for your kind comments, as always... I'm so glad you enjoyed this one John :)

I like the feel of this poem. It took me to song - Troubadour by George Strait.

Unfortunately a mirror reflects only what appears on the outside...which is only the physical part of the whole picture! The interior beauty is missing! Your delightful poem refers to all this and more, Kelly. ~ Hope you are keeping well, my friend. Regards // paul

Many thanks, my friend... Wouldn't it be great if who we are on the inside were the only thing that was visible on the outside? I think this world would be a much more peaceful place if that were possible :)

Hello Kelly, I also speak to my reflection in the mirror. You are right, the mirror does not hide anything we see. Kelly, we all have an inner beauty. Have a nice day my friend.

Hello my friend... and I agree with you, we all have our own unique inner beauty... its just that sometimes too many of us have trouble seeing that beauty in ourselves and others :)
