Every Four Years

Every four years a president is chosen with an election,
allowing citizens to choose a candidate to their satisfaction.

By design, it’s a legal way to choose one’s representation,
this is important to help sustain a democratic continuation.

One of the problems with the process is political deception,
some candidates are only dedicated to winning for domination.

You must ponder the wisdom behind political devotion,
a witness to the politician's whims over their population.

This funding from special interest groups is a complication,
it’s the test of moral leadership because of a bent obligation.

Education and awareness is important for distinction,
because voting gives rise to a positive transformation.

Sadly it’s the hope to elect someone who is an exception,
one concerned more for the people and not a corporation.

Lincoln was in the age of honor when the elected officials actually represented the interests of the people...Thank you for your comments Andrea :)

It is interesting for me to read your views on the political system in the U.S. Here, in France, big business does not shout so overtly, but a lot goes on behind the scenes. Julia

Julia, not overtly, but not hidden because donations are required to be declaired, in theory that is...so it takes a little research to discover who is finiancing who, but looking at the outcomes of those relationships, it's obviously what is going on behind the scenes...I have much family in Brest, and the Brittany area there.

ED, indeed choosing the right candidate is a challenge, here in Canada the candidates spend more time putting each other down than telling use what they will do for us, well done write, 7, and thanks for visiting my poem, Here Kitty, Kitty
