Every Day Is Not Enough
You held my hand
like it was nothing
nothing
just a touch
But it was something
too much
sent me racing
dancing beats
I could never reach
It was too soon
you slipped away
patted my head and said,
stay safe
My feet caught up
A step too late
The doors had closed
I'd have to wait
So I did and smiled when
you came back
held my hand
and I lost track
goodbye, stay safe
he was gone again
too much, too soon, too late
tomorrow,
I'll wait.
