Evening-Summer Smile

I can recall the days The rain demanded to stay, Feeling like a child Longing to run wild outside, Yet resigned to remain Watching wistful through a misty pane At the day raining forever. Now I can believe the day The sun beat on the bay, Feeling like someone relieved To see you standing in the shine And resigned to remain Walking together the seafront mile Beguiled by your summer smile.
