Although we split up many years ago
He lives with me today, forever a friend
His heart is always beating with my own
Reassuring my spirit that I’m never alone
He doesn’t answer me when I ask a question
Yet he seems to know the words to speak
When I’ve had the displeasure of some defeat
Encouraging me to try over and over again
He isn’t sleeping beside me anymore at night
But there is a certainty that he brings to me
Feelings of pure enchantment that come through
In my dreams, where he is always alive with me
His love may have failed to stay beside me
But it has never failed to remind me that I feel
So sure that I have been loved without conditions
With a love that stays with me long after separation
