Rumi has been a great inspiration to my poetry and life.  This poem was written based on quotes and poems by Rumi.

Through illness and death of loved ones, his words have helped soothe the pain.

How do I praise your influence, oh Rumi? For you are the essence of my poetry. Poet's quote.
I was lost in mournful melodies of birds, until death brought me back to life through your words. My sleeping spirit now roams in your garden's blooms, spinning from nothingness against toxic fumes. Polishing of my heart left me in a trance, through cleansing of pain, I learned how to dance. I had not drank wine, but walked like a drunkard, dizziness helped to forget where I wandered. You taught; how the beloved lives in my heart. To let go of those who wanted to depart. To stop chasing stories and myths from the past. To break free from the prisons our minds can cast. When you change with wisdom, your soul recovers, ascends to the sky in a world of lovers. Now I have wings and no longer crawl through life, never raise my words to cause another strife. Ignore those who remind of disease and death. That love is the bridge between my sweetheart's breath. I closed my eyes, fell in love and remain there. Life is a guest house, so I dwell without care.
The poem is based on Rumi quotes and poems. Mathnawi or Masnavi is a Persian a type of poetry, originating from the Arabic word Mathnawi, written in rhyming units and which follow a pattern of eleven or sporadically ten syllables without any length limits. This one is eleven syllables per line.

Silent Silent. I can not comment on the works and execution of Rumi. I can most certainly comment on the entry and execution by you before us "Essence of my Poetry" which in my eyes and ears is poetic in vintage and true fashion with all poetic elements attached. Truly. Your writing is so smooth and beautiful. Your words touch any reader. Thank you for sharing your skilled talent. It was an honor turning to your page this morning. Peace and Blessings always. (smile) This is poetry.

Dear Silent One, this is an exquisite poetic portrayal of the worlds filled with desolate dominion and envious devotion. Indeed, existence itself is the bridge. There is a throbbing beat. Congratulations on your first-place contest win.

"I had not drank wine but walked like a drunkard." "Ignore those who remind of disease and death." This should be my best line and it's a very creative diss. I love it. The poem entirely evokes life and it's worries and also the reality and joy in sailing through it.

From the beginning I have watched your penchant for the great poet Rumi. But it is indeed surprising to know that his verses have influenced you so deep and have given you a new lease of life and revived the lover in you . " You taught; how the beloved lives in my heart. To let go of those who wanted to depart." What a beautiful transformation! Into my FAVE.

Since Rumi is one of my favorite poets, I enjoyed your references to him. I'm grateful that your spirit now roams in garden's blooms. Rumi definitely had an impact on your life. I can see that through your imagery and references. Exquisite and truly artistic poetry. Faving this one too, have a splendid evening, Sara

Good one Si.' It revolves round the place where We laugh or cry, once broken stay focused And hold your course, its only once thereafter you'll withstand all force.'

Very thoughtful poem. I don't know much about Rumi, though I know he's long been someone you admire. "When you change your wisdom your soul recovers." Reminds me of the saying, "If you change your mind you change your life" or something to that effect.

Silent one, throughout but most especially the very last line resonates with me deeply! Life is indeed a guest house! If one can really let that sink in, what a difference is made! A very thoughtful poem penned here! Happy Tuesday!

Wonderful poetic depiction of the world's of dispossessed sadness and possessive love. Truly, the bridge is life. The rhythm is pulsating.

Ah your love for rumi is so evident here and so precious how you express love for rumi through a tribute like this. Ive never tried mathnavi or masnavi i know auraofrhymes and you love doing this form, and you especially do it so well! These are wise words, to fine light within and let go of things that arent welcome or should not be entertained in life. Love lives within, can be about self love too but also can be interpreted as love for a beloved, thats the beauty of your poetic words. I dont
