Essence of Betrayal

Betrayal, like the coldest wind that
turns to ice in your veins
That cannot be liquefied by
apologetic words or obvious guilt
It only seems to melt when we accept
that people will always do what they want
But shards always remain and the
shock still lingers in the memory
Because you never saw it coming
But now you watch for it and
although the ice has melted, the
coldness reminds you to expect it...

This spoke to me, I went through betrayal recently and it happened during the ice storm ironically, left me with no passion/romance, just ashes. Your write is beautifully written and speaks the truth. I want to extend my gratitude for you sharing this. This is a favorite of mine now ;) - Mike

I love your poem. It's really good. You never see someone stab you in the back but like everything else in life you live and you learn...

"although the ice has melted, the coldness reminds you to expect it..." Nice figure of speech resonates in this piece.

After reading this, I have icicles forming all over my body: " the coldness reminds you to expect it..." —excellent imagery and shards of regret. Bravo, Poet!
