Erin go Bragh We celebrate Saint Patrick. He brought Christianity. The patron saint of Ireland. Bake soda bread and wear green today. 3-17-22 ~Tenth Place Premiere Contest~ LIND30SU Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Chantelle Anne Cooke Happy Saint Patrick’s Day Everyone! *Saint Patrick, who lived during the fifth century, is the patron saint of Ireland and its national apostle. Born in Roman Britain, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16. He later escaped, but returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Christianity to its people. *Erin go Bragh sometimes Erin go Braugh, is the anglicisation of an Irish language phrase, Éirinn go Brách, and is used to express allegiance to Ireland. It is most often translated as "Ireland Forever."[ *The St. Patrick's Day tradition was popularized by Irish immigrants in the United States, who believed that wearing green made them invisible to leprechauns—the classic fairy creatures who pinch anyone they can see.

Hi Connie, belated congratulations on your win with this piece. Long live Ireland, may her Celtic grace ever shine. As far as ancestry goes, I can only go back to my grandad, he was an orphan, his real name isn't known. Still, have some of that Irish blood running through my veins. I love your postscript, Connie. Have a wonderful evening. Hugs always ..... Mike. XX

Though a simple Englishman, I bless the Irish for their rich culture, literature and love of the spoken and written word. They have greatly enriched the English language, for which I am grateful.

Me too SuZ. So far I have traced my Irish heritage back to the 1700’s. I don’t have the time to study further now because I am watching my granddaughter and home schooling her so she doesn’t have to suffer ill health being forced to wear a mask all day in school. After the mandate is lifted in two days they are still making the school children wear masks. I hope you enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day. Hugs, Connie xxoo

Both bathrooms had flooding one day after the other and it seemed to take forever to fix. We had to have new piping installed etc. we are pleased with the outcome, so all is good now. They will replace the water heater and solar for it next…down the road.: )

I thought you were done with that! Do you need to deal with USN on your water? With plumbers there all day, you may need a mortgage! My daughter's water heater gave up the ghost, and she said it cost more to bring everything up to code than it cost for the water heater ....Aloha!

Happy St. Patricks Day, Connie! I love soda bread, and have often felt a bit green (and head-achy) (a lot of good-nature fun), the next day, after a night on the town with the Monahan brothers, some youthful friends of mine back then. Thank you for the history; much that I did not know. Quite a Saint! Blessings my friend! Everyone should feel Irish St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you Connie! About ready to go bake soda bread, put on my green and turn on some Irish music to set my feet dancing to a jig! My Irish roots go back to the 400's. Have a wee drop of the Irish on both sides of my family mixed in with a whole bunch of other nationalities. I think that, and my Welsh ancestry, account for the music in my soul. Even our dog, Padraig Torin McWheaten of County Cork Esq. will be wearing his green scarf! Congratulations and blessings!

Thank you Sam. I am one third Irish and two thirds English. But I identify with my Irish roots more because of my Grandfather Shields who we were around the most. I have been to Ireland on three different vacations and last time drove over 900 miles with my Aunt. Beautiful land and friendly people. Enjoy! Blessings xxoo

Enjoyed this ode to Ireland and Saint Patrick's Day, Connie. Thank you for the footnotes as well--good reminders of the significance of this day. I am reminded of our visit to Ireland as I read your poem--enjoying a sandwich on soda bread in Dublin.
