Envelope

"Envelope"

We knew what we were about
when we signed up
the other side of the mirror
mothers become gods
for a short while
and perhaps
long after

what servant is man
when he believes
he’s as big a god
in the realm
of playing children
lost for a time
in Bedlam

forgotten

sunk in the idea of building
something better, drunk on
below depth power
another's mindfield sucked on
like marrow from the bone
errant property lost somewhere
in that runaway train

women have always
held the Circe key
golden apples 3
before a goddess
unbreakable power held
within
true strong queens

locks
never guarantee
safety
and doors
sometimes disappear
in the undertow
invisible

drowned

and
envelopes
closed portals

don’t open

The Lux Vitae/Burton Coat of Arms comes from my father. And it was my father who instilled in myself and my two younger sisters the powerful significance and relevance in life, from childhood to womanhood, of embracing all aspects of feminism, having raised us as a single parent from 36yrs, after my mother’s death at 32yrs (9yrs,7yrs, 5yrs), having absolutely every right to abandon women after being shunted into a boys home on his own at 7yrs and left to rot on his own, yet he raised us the best way he could juggling two military careers (Army, and Airforce) and then later one of public service. So it is my father’s coat of arms, and my father who educated us and led us to form our own opinions, beliefs, and strength from ‘feminism’.

My mother’s side is German/Danish, and whilst her own family coat of arms is yet to be explored, and encapsulated in my writing - as my father’s wife, her protection fell under his shield. Lux Vitae can be read as Light of Life, or the Light is My Guide (I believe, or understand that to be correct translations). Lovejoy is also from my father’s side, relating to his maternal grandmother, and myself and my two younger sisters were baptised/christened (Anglican) with that name as well.

Perhaps poetry is the epitome of time capsules, buried or left lying in the undergrowth for others to find….like fossicking for goose eggs on the Rossman farm under rusty disgarded equipment bedded in long grass with snakes baring their fangs, but eventually shedding their skins, glistening like diamonds and topaz draped high in the rafters with the Queensland sun shining down on them for those understanding treasure to read. (This for gvlm, to, io, ak, jk, mlb, klb).

It was a man who led my two younger sisters and myself into 'feminism', but women play a very significant role in his life, as well as his daughters. Kudos and much strong love to my father, who passed away in 2010.

~Lux vitae Burton Coat Of Arms~ "The light is my guide" a mother remembered. Brilliance. I have faved it so I may return to it at my leisure, and I shall return to it often for the pleasure.~~~~ ~PART II~~~~ Your mother's untimely death along with your father's resilience, and positive influence on your childhood, renders me speechless. But there is more.

In the land of unrest, where men play Gods and underestimate the Power of a true strong Queen--great message LL~On Halsey-a lyrical genius but there is more...she may be a badass that makes me want to go and get some ink...she's an enchantress, Lady Madonna with an angel's voice, but there is more...the fire in her eyes, ~how personal~ wisdom and feminine power oozes. Una maravilla!

I watched this sometime in the beginning of the year, possibly end of last year. I was impressed by the voluptuousness, colour, music, storyline - I love the Anne Boleynish'ness of it all...I think the father of her child may have directed it, not certain, think I read that somewhere. She usually writes /produces/sings fluff, but I recognised a feministic strength and quality in this production. I also like the message you can never truly remove a mother from her child and within the Lilith there is much strength and power. Like the male antagonist at the beginning of the movie says, "This woman will not go quietly"....

I see myself as...being concerned with topical subjects upon which to ruminate, with a romantic spiritual bent. I would like to believe that I am a poetess of growing and maturing. Warmest wishes!

Some wannabe poets, some think they are poets, and then there are those compelled to write. They close their eyes and minds to negative reviews on fleeting pages and in life longstanding until the end, they write their insides out to be rid of demons; finally they embrace their inner demon/s, for it is in the dark of such an existence, that they grow their greatest strength to touch and bear Light to win the penultimate victory.

As for witches, well they like most women in this life have had to fight, even when they were tied to the stake and their world burning before their eyes, with their children, in some cases coerced into declaring them such, these are the women who spoke and continue to speak their truth to their god/s in one way or another. Women were built for battle, not just to bear children who become their grand obsessive books in one way or another. We are not pretty little things, we are fierce warriors and must stand by those other women who have it beaten out of them daily by any gender, not just the mere male.Women fight for it all, constantly, from the time they break through the portal and enter screaming into this world to the moment they birth another, mistakes and/or grand loving gestures. Not all females re-produce, but invest their substitutes, creatively, in other ways.

Women are by far the strongest of all genders. Some even try to emulate women, which in itself is analogous, but declares the greatest homage to the female pronoun. It is intriguing to read female poets and writers from centuries ago, who even then, enunciated precisely the thoughts pooling in one’s own remonstrations. I embrace my inner demon/s and my natural pronouns with exactitude and dare I say it, pride. Let them throw pride cometh before a fall, in the direct path of inept critics and continue the hunger games, for women are built for "It", i.e. Life. If souls are to be believed, we knew what we were entering well before we broke portals. For my daughter, Georgia and any other woman in my life and for those uknown, yet recognised, out in the Assizes. Xx

"Therefore, this same world Uncomprehended by you must remain Uninfluenced by you. Women as you are, Mere women, personal and passionate, You give us doting mothers, and chaste wives. Sublime Madonnas, and enduring saints! We get no Christ from you,—and verily We shall not get a poet, in my mind."
