Enough Said...

He stood stunned by the realization,
something he should have seen from the start,
he lost all sensation
in his hands and his heart,
he could see,
clearly now, but a little too late,
it was better to love and forgive,
then to kill and hate,
feeling the silence around him,
traumatic,
with hints of insanity, but nothing dramatic,
and the dead teenager on the ground,
gun still smoking, but facing down,
suddenly, the truth seemed obvious,
taking a life was not worth the fight,
his future dull, not bright,
the dead teenager’s future, dark, no light,
he felt remorse by his own lack of perception,
challenged by his careless actions,
left one dead,
regret stayed in his head,
and his life now over,
enough said...

Frank this is something I feel is lacking in so many people today, remorse. It's a scary thing. So many of the kids and their parents I work with are so disconnected they are dead inside. Give me a good healthy dose of guilt and remorse any day and I can deal with it. Not bad sunshine. I actually dreamt about you last night, now isn't that a kick in the head? Life's Good

Another good use of the form, an haunting poem of conviction and sadness, well writ. Frank, my hearty congratulations.
