Engaging All the Senses
In the midst of a tropical forest,
At the mouth of a volcano at rest,
Surrounded by verdant hills not so high,
Bordered by lush trees gazing at the sky,
Lies Grand Bassin lake, reflecting the blue,
The seat of sparkling sacred waters true.
At this saintly lake, the soul takes its flight,
Engaging the senses in sure delight;
The pure clean waters shimmer crystal bright,
A haven bathed in gleams during daylight,
Reflect white shines of stars and moon at night,
Undulate with the gentle breeze at sight.
The serene cool gust, a tender embrace,
Whispers soft secrets of this unique place;
A fragrant floral scent mounts in the air,
Softly spreading in the space everywhere
Sweet perfumes of incense in the surrounds,
Leaving graceful smells on the nose around.
The songs of humming birds, a joyful sound,
Greet the ear as native life here abound,
Their melodies twine with whispers of breeze
On verdant leaves of tall towering trees.
And devotee`s sweet chanting voices so clear,
To spin a spiritual atmosphere.
The serenity of Grand Bassin site,
Amidst lush tress, to the self a delight;
The coolness of the sacred water's touch,
A blessing felt within and loved so much,
Washes away worries with gentle clutch,
Cleansing the soul that`s welcome without blush.
The taste of offerings excites the tongue,
A sweetish delight to both old and young,
Shared by devotees with a generous heart,
A natural flow of kindness, quite smart,
A simple steadfast spark of brotherhood,
Here where divine devotion ever stood.
At Grand Bassin, the heart warmly expands,
Embraced within these serene sacred lands,
Engaging senses, understanding stands,
The silent beauty held in nature's hands,
Where souls of diverse cults, creed and lands meet,
A sense of peace and bliss that is complete.
