Engaged In Cage

Engaged In Cage

Cage comes with captured thoughts from well inside
Spirits paint it green with envy
Screams leave their marks on wires
Shake it. It still remains
Bars measured to contain
Rain can only rust so much
As cage takes on the gray of days
But still remains inside with pain decaying
Wires, bars, measured to fit just right
To capture thoughts
Emotions form with pride that needs to die
Boxed in from all six sides
Bars that hold no reason but holds you
Pins you in from the beginning
No rising from the dirt or earth with an opinion
You must be held on this small island
Accountable to become the cage before all else
Before you become yourself
Live out your days with you and it together
Contained, removed from all external life
No one the wiser
Not even water for your pleasure
Cage and you remain together as one entity
If you simply become the cage
And stop all this
There would be no misery
Engage the cage
Be one with it

potential here! What I don't see is the other side of what you mean. Sure there is the cage and we are to conform by accepting it but what is the cage exactly? Society?, the law?, what God has given us?

Good afternoon Karl Thank you so much for your interest. I am a very simple basic man. I bring things down to their bare bones and simple rawness. Nature is a cage. Our mortality is a cage. Our minds, etc. The cage and occupant,( tangibles) meld into one. Emotions, screams, (intangibles), merge as well. Thank you for your astute observations. Earl

A very complex write that pictures prisons of the mind ! I say bravo, as it stirs the mind to ponder life's complexity and inner workings..

this is one to really think on. I think I might understand and then again, not sure. In any event. Very nice, and thinking "outside the cage!!"

Hi Andrea. I'm glad you liked it. It is simply a man and his cage and a cage with its man. There are some layered concepts going on also; freedom, identity, slavery, oppression, the mind, the human condition, etc. You know, the usual stuff. Thank you for your kind words. Take care. Earl
