Encouragement To a Quadriprilegic

ENCOURAGEMENT TO A QUADRIPLEGIC FRIEND Though you can’t use legs to take you anywhere you wish to go, And you can’t use arms to reach for anyone who loves you so. Though the trauma of that morning that has left you paralyzed And played over and so often has brought tears into your eyes, You may use your voice to question, you may use your eyes to stare At the four limbs of your body, hanging helpless from you there. “It’s not fair!” your inner being loudly cries in your distess, “And the agony I suffer just has not been for the best!” I don’t understand it either, and I may not emulate With the hurt you may be feeling, or the sadness, or the hate. But I wish you’d think a minute on these things I’m going to say, And I hppe that what I tell you will encourage you today. You still have your eyes for gazing at the beauty of God’s earth, You still have your ears to listen as the birds all sing with mirth. You still have your voice to speak with, you still have a heart to love, You still have Someone to talk to who lives up in heaven above. There are people all around you without hearing, speech, or sight, Who would trade you in a minute for your paralyzing plight. They can’t see God’s great creation, they can’t hear the birds that sing, They can’t talk or sing the music or enjoy these special things. Yes, you may not have the body that can move or freely play, But God still has a great purpose that you can fulfill today. You can use what He has left you for His glory now below And through it you can encourage someone else who’s feeling low. So now though you’re quadriplegic, and you cannot move so free, Just remember God still loves you and some day you’ll walk with glee. If you trust Him as your Savior, He’ll surround you with His love, He’ll give you a brand new body, free and whole in heaven above.
