Notes About The Poem

Author's Notes:   This is a "Tanka" or a Japanese verse form write on the subject of "Enchantment."  For this write, I looked at the word "Enchantment" from the perspective of what this "word" or "term" actually means to me in an interpretative sense both as a writer and poet.  In that sense, I believe what I've written does succinctly portray the essence enchantment as it applies to what we poets actually do (or attempt to do).  The syllable count for this Tanka is:  5-7-5-7-7, for a total of 31 syllables, and the total number of words is 20 for this write.  (Gary Bateman - January 3, 2015) (Tanka)

Enchantment

A type of magic—
Charming those involved always.
Enchantment is it . . .
	A motive force for poets . . .
To captivate readers whole!

Excellent pen Gary! I enjoyed your tanka! Well composed in format and theme my dearest friend Gary. Very nice expressions here about poets coming as a whole to draw and captivate readers by painting pictures in their minds and making theirs .Yes, I agree with you poets we tend to do that a lot, don't we Gary? :) A gigantic 7 from me! I wish you success in 2015! Have a very lovely evening! :) Love and hugs! xoxxox D.

Hello "D" -- I agree certainly with everything that you've most carefully outlined in your comments. I would venture that the imagery piece is a very big deal for most poets, as it is with both me and you. Thanks for your super rating here too!! I also wish you all the best in 2015! Keep Writing and Spill Ink!! XOXOXO, Gary
