Emptiness - Soul Hunt

Listen to poem:
Written: April 27, 2024

                      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Seraphic, sibilant wisdom,
    a grace-gorged vista,
    nestled amidst
pristine propinquity
     verdant grass & violet hues
     hiding, unbeknownst to an abyss,
that felicitous elixirs flow into.
Limitless lines linger in
an empathetic man
         Full of cerebral cracks
         dazzling discomfort
his spirit dwindles.
Causing chaos & confusion
         self-pollination with drugs
         utterly devoted to a process of
cholinergic stimulation,
          rattling of acetylcholine
          yet his mind is hampered &
seeking humectation from
arena of agony,
avoid claustrophobic corridors.
          stay out of enclosed spaces
          peacock plumes bloom
          eagerly swallowed
momentum whiplash,
bestowed slight injury.
crises collide, coiled.
         he pleads and begs.
Oh, Lord, will you reveal?
Spasms of shimmering shades
whilst malevolent masterworks
        a world of ubiquitous meanings
        slashes of scarlet silver satin
        sly and strange souls sway songs
emotions eradicated
still, verse-wired wings linger.
       ecstatic to write for roots of life
       a tempest smolders in his eyes.
Amid iffy weather
he was tethered.
         by white-feather streams,
         he may still tumble.
scrawl and the squall,
yet, his endeavor stood tall.
It destroys his soul.
It's a triumph of mind &
       a direct path to his heart.
       Seraphim, his cosmic hosts,
the pinnacle of a cosmic sphere.
It is now a conundrum,
a middle that's humdrum
       tangled and untamed
       he views himself as a parody
disarray placed him in jeopardy
giving him no remedy
        until the threshold
       a tainted soul blew into a threnody
all rest is vapid.
an occult core covered squalidly
       his heart sings a poetic melody
       his spirituality is dwindling?
I soar to heights unknown
concealed within heaven
        with angels grasping at emotion
        I recognize the reason
I inhale the scent of juniper
and unleash unforeseen wonders
       as nature's mystique unfolds,
I can't prevail over such odds
over a beckoning angel
          a figure with a scythe
          sightless and grim
shivering, lost in despair
my love whispers
yet my craving
remains unfulfilled
        words consume me incessantly
swiftly approach
         lost in the depth
lessons elude me
Lord, retain me anchored
  I still detect the white.
            yet, feathers are stained with blood.
Sotto! Wow! What a scene envisioned &as written shared! Y fave lines & imagery “simm ering…….tempest in his eyes” sure glad his soul found fill. I had to blow the dust off my disctionary for this one, which is hard to do when it’s Google Dictionary haha ((that was a joke 8-‘ )) A masterwork. Opus magnum
Dear Lasaad, the depth and breadth of your amazing imagery takes me into a rich tapestry woven with your golden ink of mixed emotions, despair, and soul-searching for lessons to fill the empty space. A sumptuous, emotive, evocative piece. Congratulations for your win in Brian's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
Dwelling in emptiness, yet meaningful words that search depths of emotions and life. Finely choregraphed poem, my friend.
The title is so good for this poem. The beseechment at the end gives hope. I like the spirituality of the verse. Beautiful poem.
