Embers
Fire squirrels through
the tree limbs
doing its
wicked dance
in the upper canopy
of my forest.
So I call forth my potential
to quench the flames
searing my natural rooftop.
Sparks drop,
like twinkling stars,
cascading around my
delicate elf
who I shield with
my determination
and caress
with my soul.
And as the inferno
dies into glowing embers,
twisting tracks of light
are formed in the sky
by the small burnt branches
like a road map
of the heavens,
showing the paths
of opportunity.
