Elevation

In the Tabernacle, every morning Aaron kindled the Menorah He did so every afternoon as well for forty years, enough to bore 'ya' But not Aaron, who was always enthusiastic With him it was genuine, not phony or 'plastic' For he understood perfectly God's message to him 'In your elevating' every light you kindle ~ You elevate yourself with each of them __________________________________________________ Note: The Torah portion for this week is 'Beha'alos'cha,' which is found in Numbers 8:1 - 12:16. The name 'Beha'alos'cha' is often translated as 'When you light...' But its 'core meaning' is 'In your elevation...' In fact, in order to fulfill the precept, a step was put in front of the Menorah for Aaron (the High Priest), so that he would experience a physical as well as a spiritual ele- vation when kindling the lamps of the Menorah.
