Element Water

It took place shortly after and the stage was set before words before ink before heavenly breath There was a rain on the parade of eternal monotony and the angels were elated In the Beginning God created... the verse everyone knows tantalizing phrasing that leaves you on your tip-toes before grass before plants before earthly foes And the earth was without form... (and talk about void!) It was there when it was all lightning and storm: chaos untamed in watery upheaval, though the celestial walls were impermeable Enough disarray to make a grown man weep And darkness was over the surface of the deep... It was there before it was given the title: Sea Before light was birthed with a "Let there be" Blanketing the earth with cerulean comfort in preparation for ethereal tickles, despair happy to take her wings And the Spirit of God was hovering... Like a golden eagle dipping down into azure pools knowing mountains will soon rise from your depths ... but LOVE is the requisite ... and HOPE is the heart of it Just like the weather that's about to hit the scene, before Pangaea performs in emerald green ... and there was morning the Second Day Can you not hear your doubts just wash away? ---remember what happened on the Third? I'm sure you do--- As you see Him reaching down with liquid love for you, longing to invigorate your being He wants to split you in half as the Rod of Moshe made watery walls of crystallization He longs to enter into your towering trust (and not just on occasion) For sometimes the Water of Life is dramatic Sometimes it's not And sometimes your fears could use a little irrigation (right now your eyes could use a bit of prayerful precipitation) Remember the ruby water that dripped down the Face of the Son that fateful day Drink it in Become full Indulge in humble hydration Your heart will tell you what you should And behold it was very good... NOTE: Moshe is the Hebrew rendering of the name Moses. Written April 2nd, 2016 For the Element Water Contest Hosted by Brian Davey Six Words Used: Impermeable, Requisite, Invigorate, Crystallization, Precipitation, Hydration

Thank you very much for my placement, Brian, I had a lot of fun! Not sure if your Fire contest is still going on or not (I probably missed it) ... :( Life gets in the way of Soup, at times ...

seeing another response you gave me to a comment I made. You gotta know, I only see those things when I can't find a poem of yours to read new. Then I end up reviewing older posts to see if I missed anything of yours. I gotta rush tonight so I can't think of where else to look . I wonder if I have seen all your poems!!!

Thanks so much Connie! I find the first chapter of Genesis to be especially poetic in its language and meaning, and so I had a lot of fun incorporating and elaborating many of the verses into this poem.

This just might be your finest hour, to date. A Flood of Brilliance. (You could make a living off of this kind of writing you know)... J.

I'm not sure what to say, but that sure is an uplifting comment, James! I haven't had the greatest luck trying to publish my longer poems (but have had some success with my smaller ones as well as one short story) ... So happy you enjoyed :D

I can't tell you how much I love this! The structure, the content the personality, all uniquely you!! Beautiful piece - inspiring and delightful to read. "Before light was birthed with a "Let there be" ~ nice line! Humble hydration... I like that! Very nicely done, Timothy. Adding to my favorites my friend! Needless to say this is a winner. Always, Laura

Has anyone told you (again) that you're on a roll?! Richard says that you met this challenge with style...not just any style, but your own special style that is hard to imitate! Yes, I believe that many of us could use a little irrigation...even one like me who was born an Aquarian:) #7++ // paul [ps~Andrea will not have to eat her hat!]

I should hope so (eating hats aren't good on your teeth or your stomach!) ... you honor me yet again, Paul. I'm not sure why the words come to me in this fashion, but I'm always thankful for the chance to be inspired. I was born a Leo myself.

You are so amazing. ANOTHER poem I have to fave. Good heavens!! Talk about STYLE. Richard is right on that. If this does not win, I will have to eat my hat.

I run out of things to say, Andrea ... THANK you yet again. I suppose I'm on a creative streak, but many of these lines were direct quotes from Genesis 1 ... it was about elaborating and intertwining my own thoughts with it.
