Elegy, Anniversary of My Fathers Funeral

9/22/1983 I drove your shining,Cadillac, Daddy! The lead car to the cemetery. A stuffed bear, your Borsalino, In the August, back window, fino! You, in the hearse, a few feet behind.. Tears on the, wheel, almost went blind. Silent pallbearers, waited, white gloved. Upset was I,.into earth, you'd be shoved. Priest stands in prayerful solemnity, Oh,God, take not my Father from me! Family, friends around the grave stood, Then, gone, into the silent, earth's hood. You, who presented me as a debutante. Beside myself, now, not nonchalant. You left me to a world, full of want. For your lost love, I always have sought. A few days later, I came to sing you, your song. The one you sang, though many years long! "Daddy's Little Girl", you sang to me, When I, was still the star in your tree! Lyrics Bobby Burke and Horace Gerlach 1949 " You'e the end of a rainbow, my pot of gold. You're Daddy's little girl, to have and hold. A precious gem, is what you are! You're Mommy's bright and shining star. You're the Spirit of Christmas, our Star on the tree. You're the Easter Bunny to Mommy and me! You're sugar, you're spice, you are everything nice... And you're Daddy's little girl!" """"""""""""" Song is also on. You Tube Still love you, Daddy! Panagiota's First Elegy Dedicated to you, Dad!

You are right, It is magnicent....my father deserved a magnificent poem. Death is not respected here, unless you are one of the poets who passed away!...they weep over them..,..not in elegy form. My father deserved it! It costs a lot to be the best. People want a commoner. Not great poetry, the ones I know here are ignored. Dirty jokes are far more popular than you. That’s just how it is, sorry to say. A sign of our times. Matches the porn at MTV awards. Panagiota

Hello Panagiota, you were close to your father, a strong bond. You had a great father that cared for you. Some daughters do not have a great father like that. Hugs.

Hi Darlene..he was a loss, a deep one, elegy is a classical form, disliked here,I understand that. It’s a tragedy. My Dad is part of who made me strive for excellence. He wasn’t liked for that quality, neither am I. As if I wanted applause. Not here! That I got on the stage. Audiences do not have bullies. Only nice people read me, never a bully. Thank you, Panagiota

I know how much you loved your father Pangie and you have written a beautiful tribute to him. They leave such a void when they go but one day you will be reunited with him in heaven. He lives on in you and you have those happy memories to reflect on. Tom

All you say , I agree with! Death is a reality, I did write it in classical form which was a challenge, Im so glad I used it, and proud of the result! Much harder to do for me than a simple rhyme, or free verse, Pangie Pangie

This is beautifully written, expressing the great love you and you father shared. I can see how deeply his passing has affected you. Your great ability to propagate love, helping others to see life through your caring eyes, shines in all of your fine poems. I like to think that your father sees all, and is very proud of his little girl. Blessings my friend! A favorite!

Compliments go to my Father, Joe! I WAtched how he gave to life more than receiving. He contributed more than he ever received. His giving to all was boundless. He is remembered for that. We both were very emotional. Most people, too afraid to be who they really are. Worse, frozen with jealousy and envy. Silly, is it not? I hope he is proud of me!in all I have done and will do. Pangie. Only, a friend could write such a comment. and fav it. Wow. I was blessed to have him. He carried me to school, after he parked the car ..all the kids, laughed at me.it was a bizzard! Butwwre more than happy to get a ride home, he died died 5 days before his birthday.and the world has never seemed sane since then. Merci, Prince, deMino! Panagiota

Mystic, he was a man amongst men! How insignificant he makes other men seem...I mean arrogant nobodies, blowing their own horns, dad stood tall over other men, in that he gave much. They don’t make men like that anymore, I know a few at the Soup! Very caring for others. Not stuck to trophies. They give to others and inside me! This was one of the most lost days of my life, The elegy form kept me within a framework.your comment touched me deeply. Love, Pangie
