Election 2010

It is over at last
And should have been before it began
The frilly frantic cast
Who knows nothing of the needs of man
Every platform is the same frivolous anxiety
The same old disbelief
The same bleating bladder of history
Repeating the people's grief
Who told them we want to hate
Or cared about the deficit of common sense
I am attached to no man's slate
For in their plans I have no hope nor presence
Matters not how long I wait
The same rich few: the bankers and gatekepers
Are fat cats laughing at the gate
All this vicarious power resident in my vote
Only switch the suffering by remote
While the program like a fix fight
Leave us bloodless, rudderless in the blight.
It is over at last
Never seen a black eagle falls so fast.

Gee, I was tempted to ask you to shorten this awesome poem and enter it in the election humor contest, David. But reading it a second time, I don't think you should change a word. Very powerful statement on our current state of affairs and the helplessness we feel! Love, Carolyn

Some things are necessary evils but they always give something good, I think
